Blood or urine alcohol content

Alcohol technical defence

If you have reason to believe you should have been under the legal limit at the time of driving, MSA scientists can calculate blood alcohol concentrations for the given circumstances. Forward and/or back calculations can be used to corroborate information provided for the following examples:

Example 1: If you were present in a vehicle but did not intend to drive until some time in the future, MSA can calculate the level of alcohol expected in your blood at that time.

Example 2: If you consumed alcohol following a driving incident, but prior to providing a sample to the police, MSA can calculate the level of alcohol in your blood at the time of the incident, i.e. if no drink had been consumed after the incident.

Example 3: If you believe your drink was spiked, and a witness can provide a statement detailing the amount of alcohol administered without your knowledge, MSA can calculate the contribution this alcohol would have made to the level of alcohol in your blood.

Additionally, MSA are able to determine the alcoholic strength of any drink (or medication containing alcohol) that you might have consumed.
